We, the faculty and staff of
Sacred Heart School, direct our efforts toward
the Catholic Christian education of youth. Inspired by the
boundless love of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we are
committed to providing a loving, caring atmosphere in which
to nurture each child's God-given gifts and talents. We
focus on the immutable Gospel message and seek to be
responsive to present day needs and concerns in this
ever-changing world.

|
Following the tireless example of our founder,
the Right Reverend Monsignor Lucyan Bojnowski, who so
strongly believed in a Catholic education for his Polish
immigrants, we strive to maintain his
tradition and ideals by continuing to offer a
holistic education to our parish and community youth.

Philosophy
 |
In accordance with the Declaration on Christian Education of
Vatican II, Sacred Heart School is dedicated to helping
students to become mature Christians conscious of their
responsibilities to God, themselves, their families, fellow
students and the larger community. The responsibility for
this development rests with the parents. The school presumes
and builds upon it.

|
|
The United States Bishops' pastoral
on Catholic Education, "To Teach as Jesus Did",
reminds us that "Christian Education is intended to make
men's faith become living, conscious and
active through the light of instruction". Through our
curriculum, activities, and the very nature of our spiritual
environment, we attempt to instill these values considered
essential for individual and social development.
|
 |
| |
|
 |
Among these treasured values are
honesty, truthfulness, respect for authority, and the
development and responsible use of one's God-given talents.
Above all, we attempt to set before our students respect for
human life. Conscious of our role as a religious institution
to remind our students of their destiny with God, we direct
all our efforts toward the achievement of that noble goal.

Spiritual Life
 |
Catholic values and beliefs are the heart of education at Sacred
Heart School. Students’ spiritual lives are enriched by
many opportunities for prayer and worship. The students
attend Mass on First Fridays and Holy Days of Obligation.
They begin and end the school day with prayer as well as
intermittently throughout the day.
|
|
Religion
class is part of the regular curriculum as well participation in
Parish celebrations such as Forty Hours, Lenten Retreats, the
Parish Mission, Stations of the Cross, etc. The students also
take an active role in these activities by participating as
lectors, altar servers, gift bearers and choir members.
|
 |

|
Students are taught to follow Jesus’ example of loving service
to others. There are many occasions and activities when
the students can put their religion into practice. They
are encouraged to become sensitive to the needs of others and
leave Sacred Heart School with a strong foundation in the
Catholic faith to guide them in their future life decisions.

Academic Program
|
Sacred Heart School offers a holistic education to the
students. The school provides a safe, loving and
caring atmosphere in which learning and development take
place. We believe that a student’s physiological and
cognitive development occurs progressively and the
curriculum presents skills, sequentially and
comprehensively. The enhancement of critical thinking
skills at each level is encouraged and promoted.
|
 |
|
Sacred Heart School updates curriculum according to State
and Diocesan guidelines and mandates. Texts are chosen
to meet the educational needs of the students.
Classroom testing and national testing results assist in the
textbook purchasing decision. These meet both Diocesan
and State requirements.

 |
| |
|
 |
Some
activities are extensions of the classroom learning
experiences. Creative Learning Modules provide
enrichment in all subject areas. A Title I program
assists students in reading and math. English as a
second language is provided and grade appropriate field
trips reinforce classroom lessons.
|
| |
|
|
The
school is also equipped with up-to-date computers and
instruction which provides students with a solid foundation
for today’s technological world.
